Cole Gibsen

Cole Gibsen discovered her love of writing in Mrs. Lochman's sixth grade class. Her tastes later turned toward poetry, and in college, Cole set her poetry to music and joined a band. Luckily for Cole (and people who love music), she quit the band and decided to devote herself to her true love: young adult fiction. Her debut, Katana, is due from Flux in Spring 2012. Cole resides in the Greater St. Louis area with her husband, daughter, and cranky border collie. {site}

Laura Goode

Laura Goode found herself propelled unexpectedly into writing teen fiction after writing poetry and plays. She holds an MFA and a BA in English and creative writing from Columbia University, and her poems have appeared in Denver Quarterly, Fawlt, and other journals. She lives in San Francisco and really, really likes to read. Her debut novel, Sister Mischief, was published to wide acclaim from Candlewick Press in 2011.

Maurissa Guibord

Before writing for teens, Maurissa Guibord worked slinging pizzas, alphabetizing things, and practicing medicine. Now she writes fiction with a dash of the mysterious, the romantic, and a touch of humor. Her short mystery fiction has been nominated for the Agatha Award. She lives on the coast of Maine with her mysterious cat, romantic husband, and three kids who make her laugh. Her debut novel, Warped, was published in early 2011 by Delacorte Press, and will soon be followed by Wrecked.

Danette Haworth

Danette Haworth created her first book when she was six, featuring hair-raising pictures of the battle between a green stickboy and a red stickman. She has since stopped illustrating—at least until the market is ready for some really good stickmen. The author of Violet Raines Almost Got Struck By Lightning and The Summer of Moonlight Secrets, her newest novel is Me and Jack, all from Walker Books. {site}

Beth Hautala

Beth Hautala grew up reading and writing in the old garret bedroom of a northern Minnesota farmhouse. School, marriage, an ad agency, two kids, a smattering of published work, and one gray cat later, she and her husband bought back that old farmhouse. There, they are raising their children, growing vegetables, keeping chickens, and, in Beth's case, reading and writing books.{site}

Antony John

Antony John was raised in England on a balanced diet of fish and chips, obscure British comedies, and ABBA’s Greatest Hits. In a fit of teenage rebellion, he decided to pursue a career in classical music, culminating in a Ph.D. in composition and a stint as a college professor. Although he doesn’t have much time for composing anymore, music still plays a major role in his novels, including Busted and the winner of the ALA's 2011 Schneider Family Book Award for Teens, Five Flavors of Dumb. He lives in St. Louis with his family. {site}

Misty Kalkofen

Misty Kalkofen is one of Boston's most highly regarded mixologists, president and founder of LUPEC BOSTON, and a founding member of the Jack Rose Society. E.M. Kokie
E. M. Kokie has always loved the way a good book can sweep you away, but she was a lazy student and never thought she could actually be a writer. So, in between marching band, field hockey and mock trial, and the usual tortures of high school, she wrote stories, but only in her head. Now she shares her stories—specifically, novels for teens that explore identity and self-determination, about characters on the cusp of life-changing moments. Her novel Personal Effects is forthcoming from Candlewick. She lives in Madison, Wisconsin with her partner.

Leah Konen
Leah Konen is a lifestyle journalist and YA fiction author whose work has been published in several newspapers and magazines, including Parenting, Good Housekeeping’s Quick & Simple, and on the web at MetHome.com. Leah lives in Brooklyn, where she can be found either writing fiction in her favorite coffee shop, thrift-store shopping, or reading on the fire escape.

Helen Landalf

Helen Landalf is the author of eight books, including the picture book The Secret Night World of Cats, illustrated by her autistic brother, Mark Rimland, which received a 1998 National Parent Publishing Honor Award. Flyaway, her debut novel for teens, was published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in December 2011. She and her family live in Seattle.

Jody Little

Jody Little’s writing career was almost crushed when her fourth grade teacher read her forty-page novel and circled all the spelling errors. Fortunately, inspired by a decade of teaching middle school and even longer spent watching her two children grow, Jody’s muse returned. When not cooking up ideas for her middle grade novels, Jody dreams of singing back-up for Aretha Franklin and becoming a professional dessert taster. She lives in Portland, Oregon.
