Upstart Crow runs a nearly paper-free office (or that’s what we aim for, anyway), and trust that we are serious when we tell you: we do not accept hard copy submissions via the US mail. We consider only electronic submissions. Mailed submissions will be thrown unread into the recycle bin.

Interested writers may submit a QUERY and TWENTY PAGES of their manuscripts to one of the email addresses below. Please put your query and sample in the body of the email, we will not open emailed attachments. If your submission is received by our system, an automated response will be emailed to you.

PLEASE NOTE: Danielle Chiotti is the only Upstart Crow agent currently accepting submissions. Please find her interests and email link below.

Michael Stearns and Ted Malawer are no longer considering submissions. Any manuscripts sent to them will be discarded unread.

Chris Richman is considering only referrals or follow-ups from writers who have met him at conferences at which he's spoken.

If, however, you attended a conference where Chris was a faculty member, you may still submit to him using chris.submission (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject line ‘Conference Attendee.’ All other unsolicited queries will be discarded until Upstart Crow submissions are reopened after Labor Day.

We respond to most queries within twelve weeks. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming number of submissions received, personal responses are only very rarely possible. But if we are interested, we will request your full manuscript.
