Destiny O. Birdsong is a Louisiana-born writer whose work has appeared in the Paris Review Daily, Poets & Writers, Best American Poetry, and elsewhere. She is the author of the poetry collection, Negotiations (Tin House, 2020), and the triptych novel Nobody’s Magic (Grand Central, 2022), which was a finalist for the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence and won the 2022 Willie Morris Award for Southern Fiction. In 2022, she was the Hurston-Wright Foundation’s inaugural Writer-in-Residence at Rutgers University-Newark and now serves as an artist-in-residence at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
